How the CPS test works

Choose a test length (5 seconds is the classic), then click inside the box. The timer starts on your first click, so you never lose time getting ready. When the time is up, the box locks for a moment so a last click doesn't start a new round by accident.

Your score is simple maths: clicks divided by seconds. 50 clicks in a 5-second test is 10 CPS. Short tests reward bursts of speed; the 30- and 60-second tests show how well you keep the pace when your hand gets tired.

What is a good CPS score?

Most people land between 5 and 8 CPS with normal clicking. Gamers who practise get 8 to 12, and special techniques like jitter clicking (tensing the arm so the hand vibrates) or butterfly clicking (two fingers taking turns on one button) can push the number higher.

RankedTestHub shows your level from Turtle (under 4 CPS) through Cat, Rabbit, Cheetah and Falcon up to Lightning (13 CPS and more). Scores above 20 CPS are treated as an autoclicker and are never saved on the leaderboard.

Tips to click faster

Rest your wrist on the desk and let the finger do the work instead of the whole arm. Use a mouse with light, crisp switches, and try a few rounds before you aim for a record: everyone gets faster after warming up.

Take breaks. Fast clicking for a long time strains the hand, and no score is worth a sore wrist.

Is the test accurate?

Clicks are timed with your browser's high-precision clock and counted the moment the button goes down, so fast clicks don't get lost. A very old computer or a busy browser can still miss the odd click; close heavy tabs for your record attempts.

Questions & answers

What does CPS mean?

Clicks per second: how many times you click in one second, on average over the whole test.

Which test length should I choose?

5 seconds is the most common for comparing with friends. 1 second is pure burst speed; 30 and 60 seconds test stamina.

Why wasn't my score saved on the leaderboard?

Scores above 20 CPS, or clicks with a perfect machine rhythm, are treated as an autoclicker. Try again with your own fingers.

Can I do the CPS test on a phone?

Yes. Tap the box with one or more fingers; every tap counts as a click.

Does a gaming mouse help?

A light, responsive switch helps a little, but technique and practice matter much more than the mouse.
